Home Information Packs Implementation
31st January 2008
Introduction
1. On 11 June 2007 the Government took the first step in the implementation of home information packs (HIPs), by introducing new regulations to Parliament.
2. These were phased in from 1st August 2007 and now all domestic properties being sold in England & Wales are required to have a Home Information Pack. Home Information Packs will not be required in Nothern Ireland although Energy Perfomance Cetificates will be required on a phased basis from Spring 2008 for all newly constructed buildings to all buildings being inspected from the Summer 2008.
From 19th March 2008 Enterprise Insurance have arranged an exclusive scheme with HCC International Insurance Company PLC to cover Professional Indemnity insurance for Home Information Pack providers. This will appeal particularly to Energy Assessors who will provide HIPs on a part time basis in order to supplement their income.
Cover can be easily arranged by the completion of an abbreviated questionairre and the premium can be paid by monthly direct debit (please complete for a quotation). The annual premium can be as low as £200 + 5% 1PT for an Indemnity of £250,000 any one claim and where the property searches are undertaken by a sub-contractor, which has its own Professional Indemnity cover. Enterprise Insurance have a range of premium options up to an Indemnity limit of £2,000,000.
