Becoming a Domestic Energy Assesor

The Domestic Energy Assessor (DEAs) is a new role created by the need for homeowners to provide Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) for inclusion in Home Information Packs (HIPs). These certificates will be awarded by a DEA who will test the energy efficiency of homes and make suggestions on how they can be approved. The DEA will make a detailed inspection of the property and an energy efficiency rating, like fridges, will provide A – G ratings on the energy efficiency of homes. In June 2007 the government announced a phased role out of home information packs where it is envisaged that all homes marketed will require a home information pack.
